Glass Cutting Mat?

Hello Everyone and Happy Thursday!

To all my american followers...Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you have a great one with your loved ones.

Yesterday I was in Wal Mart looking for a glass mat since I read that the MS circle cutter will perform better when used with a glass mat. Well, I couldn't found one so I called my local scrapbook store and she didn't have one either! Oh my, what do I do? I need a glass mat so bad for I'm doing a lot of circle cutting and not wanting to use my cricut for it's in another room! Well, I don't know if this has occurred to you, but while I was putting my little one down for her afternoon nap I thought: Why not use the glass from an old picture frame? So there I went and took the glass from a broken picture frame that I had the intention to repair and took the glass out. I layed the glass onto a self healing cutting mat just in case it would brake while using it. Got my MS circle cutter and oh boy did it ever did a wonderful job! It cut with no problem whatsoever! I tried different sizes and papers as well as cardstock and it did cut like knife in butter. Now, I need to figure out to cut circles around printed images and/or photos. As soon as I figure it out, I'll make a photo tutorial for it just to have it here so if anyone of you need it then you know where to go :)

So now you don't have to spend money on an expensive glass cutting mat, just use the glass on one of your old picture frames, or and old coffee table, or and end table whatever is that you have :)

P.S. You can also go to your local glass repair shop or any place that they cut glass...it might be a little expensive but if you don't have any piece of glass laying around then this will do.

Have a good crafting day!

Happy Wednesday to you all! I've been very busy and that's why my delay in updating a little bit plus I'm getting tired, and more tired everyday now that I'm on my last trimester of my pregnancy. Can you believe I'm 30 weeks already as of today? Wow! time is flying and with Christmas getting closer and closer it feels like I'm almost at the end of this wonderful journey of being pregnant. I really enjoy the pregnancy stage :)

I also want to announce that I'm having a Black Friday sale on my Etsy shop! Starting today until Sunday, Nov 28 use coupon code BFRIDAY20 and get 20% off your purchase and remember I have FREE shipping!

I want to welcome all my new followers and thank you for the comments :)

Here are few frames I made a short while ago for my Christmas craft show

Enjoy your day and happy crafting! :)

I used SCAL to cut the poinsetta and the Merry Christmas

Heat embossed the poinsettas

Here I used CTMH set of stamps and heat embossing

This is just flock paper and the bow was made using the Bow Easy

Again, just paper and digi stamps from digital delights colored with BIC markers as I don't have Copics yet :(

I used SCAL to cut the trees. I got the file from SVGcuts.com

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Everyone,

I want to wish to all my canadian followers and friends a Happy Thankgiving!
I'm thankful for having a wonderful family and extended family and my very few friends. I'm also thankful for having you as my followers and crafty friends.
I'm working on a lot of stuff for my first xmas craft show ever! I'm being brave enough to actually sell my creations. I'm very excited and nervous at the same time; I have no idea how this is going to go, but hey it's all about having fun! If they don't sell, I'll give them away!

Here are some cards I've created lately. Later on, I'll post more pictures of my other creations.

On this card, I used a digi stamp for my greeting and the paper stack I've had for over a year now and really didn't use it until now. I loooove this paper and I can't remember where I got it from...most likely from Michaels :)

Add caption

Here again, I used another digi stamp, spellbinders nestabilities, my cuttlebug and my cricut to cut the snowflake which gave it a 3D look using UTEE and my heat gun.

Another digi stamp! I actually have quite a few, but never get to use them. I kinda forget I have them for I don't have the computer in my craft room...that's why I want a laptop so I don't have to run from room to room just to cut and/or print!

Cuttlebug folder Christmas Tree I believe is called was used and Stampin' Up markers and stickles to give that glittery look to the tree.

I used a circle punch and one of my cuttlebug folders and some stickles. Oh and I also used the clear Grafix sheet
These are called peel off's. I don't know if any of you has seen these ones before, but I love them. I'm working on a video tutorial on how to use these as one of my followers and friend asked to. It's a little messy, but I love the results!

To make this circle, I used my MS circle cutter that I was hating until I watched a tutorial on how to use it! and now I'm glad I bought it :)
Have a fun weekend and for my canadian followers, Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. These two last ones, I made really quick for my hubby's bosses!

My Second Painting

Hi Everyone!

Well here are the rest of the paintings I did on the other canvases. I haven't done anymore since I want to get good brushes so the pictures look more real. The first picture is the same as the one on my fist post, but this time I tried with oil paint instead. The rest are acrylic paint.

Have a good crafting day!

My First Painting Evaaaa!!!

Hello everyone!

Well I'm back after my holidays and I apologize for not updating sooner. I've been pretty busy getting ready for a Christmas Craft Sale that is going on in November in a small town near mine. Did I mention this is my first craft sale ever? Yes, it is and I'm so nervous. I'm trying to make lots of cards (that I'll be posting later on) for Christmas and every other occasion, picture frames, embellished candles and a lot more that I know how to do, but never get actually to do it!
On the other hand, I discovered a new hobbie and it has kept me busy for the last two nights!! (very late nights!) I was watching TV (I don't watch much tv) and as I was flipping through the channels, I stopped to watch the Ellen Degeneres Show on a channel I never watch for I thought it was kinda boring...WRONG!!! they have small classes of painting on canvases. Oh my!!! I LOVED what the instructor painted, I was so captivated by what you can do with a couple of brushes and some paint! that I decided to give it a try with my craft acrylic paints (he used oil). So off to my room I went after putting  my little one down for a nap and here it is my very first painting eveeeerrr!

Sooo what do you think? It's supposed to be a lake view on a wintery day thus the "snow" on the trees and on the "land." I'm really pleased with the results...to be my very first time trying to paint and actual landscape on a canvas. I didn't know I could pull it off, apparently I can and THAT makes me very happy.
Later on, I'll be posting my second attempt at painting, but this time I actually went to Wal*Mart and bought some oil paint. I hope you like it and why not, you could give it a try too!
PS. The canvases I got at my local dollar store :)

Talk to you later!

Pretty Garden "Picture Frame"

Hi there friends,
Well I've been busy getting ready for the coming of my in laws and getting ready for my trip to Cuba in two weeks!!! Yaaaay!! I'm so excited about both events. For my in laws because I get to craft with my mother and sister in law, and for Cuba because I get to see my family and they get to meet Bella!! everybody is excited and I know we are going to have a BLAST!! Bella loooooves water and we are renting a house at the beach and she also loves music and that my friends is a staple in the cuban idiosyncracy. That's why I have music here in my blog! :)
Anyhoo, I just wanted to show you a recent project I made using canvas from the dollar store and some acrylic paints, glimmer mist, paper flower and SCAL software (butterflies are cut using one of the SVG collections). I thought making a video for it, but it would have been quite lengthy. I'll leave you with the picture instead.

Until then,
Happy crafting!

My Etsy

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. Nauseas were kicking in pretty bad; didn't even know what it was at first for I didn't get any with my first pregnancy. NOW I KNOW how uncomfortable it is to feel that way. NO energy to do anything! Ugh!
On the bright side, I finally decided to open my Etsy shop! yay!! It's fairly new so there is not much to browse right now, but I'll be adding stuff as I finish them.
So what is everybody doing this weekend? I'm spending time with my little one and probably do some crafting in the evenings :)

Happy weekend to everybody!! Enjoy! :)

Another Picture Frame

Hi Everyone,
I'm very proud of this picture frame I created. I think is very girly,  yet simple. I bought the actual frame at Michaels and then just decorated it. I used MS paper that to me is more like a cardstock just not too thick, stamps and SCAL to cut the butterflies. I'll will be putting a picture of my litte one here pretty soon!

This is it for now, enjoy your day and happy crafting!

Hubby's Father's Day Gift

Hi Everyone,
This is my third word book I've ever done, but this time I used my BIA Bind-it-all machine. This is the first time I've got to use this new "friend of mine" as I got it not too long ago and let me tell you that I love it. The final product looks much better and professional. This is a gift I wanted to give to my hubby with our little one's pictures since she was born until today. I double layered the book so I could fit more pictures in it. By double layered I mean, I cut each letter twice so I would have more room to embellish and put pictures.

I hope you like it! :)

An Old Project

Hello Everyone,
This is just a quick post of an old project I made when my little one was born. I had it hanging on her bedroom, but now she can reach it and all she wants is to pull it down and this is too precious to me to let her wreck it!
I'll be making either a video or picture tutorial on how to make this....SUPER simple and easy!

Enjoy your day and happy crafting!

PS. Don't mind the mess in the background :)

Another Father's Day Layout

Hi Friends,
Here is another layout for Father's Day. This one is for my dad and I'm sure he is going to love it as it's about him and Bella (my little one). This is the second layout I've ever done. I used SCAL to make the page topper and my crop-a-dile with some eyelets so he can hang it by his computer. I'm always second guessing myself  therefore I never get to scrapbook. I feel more confident now doing this so I guess I can start doing more and more. I have not scrapbooked a pic of my little one since she was born and I better get started because there is another one on the way!! yup, I'm expecting again and very happy for it!!

By for now and have a good crafting day :)

Bind-it-all!!

Hello everyone!
I'm sooo excited! I just got my bind-it-all machine!! I've been wanting this for the longest time, but always put it aside for "later" and never got a chance to get to it. This was my Mother's Day present, but it was on back order so I had to wait a litlte. I know I won't have time to play with it this week, but starting next week I'm getting my hands on this baby with no delay! lol

Have a wonderful day!

Happy

I'm glad that my blog is getting some shape as I'm new to this blogging world. I've been spending some time browsing and figuring things out. Still can't figure out how to make a page just for my pictures of my projects!! Oh well, I'll figure it out someday! :)

Good night everyone and I hope you have a great day tomorrow!

Projects I've made

Hi Everyone!

I have not have time to do much lately...too busy with my little one, but she is starting the daycare next Tuesday so I'll be able to make few videos. For now I'll just post projects I've made with my Cricut using my few carts and SCAL.

This is a party favor purse I made for a little girl's 3rd Birthday party. I used SCAL for this.

The picture above is the actual invitation for the little girl. This is a digi stamp from pinkcatstudio.com
I also used my Nestabilites available at ginakdesigns.com or at customcrops.com

This is another purse I made using Tag, Bags, Boxes, and More cart and I embellished it with gems and rhinestones I got at Wal-Mart.

This Welcome sign I made for my little one's 1st Birthday party. I made Tinker using Tinker Bell & Friends and SCAL for the Welcome sign.

PS. The only reason I'm posting the links to the places I bought my stuff from, if to make it easier on you iin case you want to go and check it out. I'm not sponsored by any of this websites. Now if I can only figure out how to make a page with all my pictures, it'll be great! lol

Have a wonderful day!

This card I made for my dad's birthday with the new technique I learned at Geri's card blog. I have a hard time creating manly cards, but the more I do it the easier it becomes. Love the sunrays tech!
Have a crafty day!

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

I made these cards for a class I'm teaching. Two of the techniques, I learned over at StampTv and I love them...the sunrays tech is just adorable and so versatile that can be used on any card occasion as well as the embossed foil. The watercoloring tech is one of my fav...love the different tones you can get with just one color marker and a blending pen. The markers I used are SU, but I'm dying to try the COPIC ones...I've heard they are just marvelous.
